What to Do?

The difficulty for a thinking artist is not in deciding what to make or do 'artistically'. The truly hard task is sifting the essential from one's interests, finding the necessary in one's overall fascinations and obsessions. Perhaps artists only do have one 'big idea', but sometimes discovering what it is can be the hardest task of all.

One doesn't begin with the idea of 'making art', but one comes to discover the forms and colours, shapes and ideas that motivate one the most.
